Caribbean Park’s newest restaurant

Bringing CBD dining to the suburbs.

San Lorenzo is the second outpost of the hugely successful Sette Bello restaurant, Glen Waverley which over the years has earned a reputation for high quality service and food. Restaurateurs Frank Ciorciari, Elvis Chiaravalle and Chef Nick Phillips join forces with Sab Randazzo from the renowned Sapore restaurant, St Kilda. Combined, they bring decades of experience and old-style professional service to San Lorenzo – a unique CBD dining experience and venue space located in the Eastern suburbs.

With a focus on Italian and modern cuisine, San Lorenzo restaurant offers a dining experience enhanced by uncomplicated, yet delicious food complemented by a carefully selected list of European and Australian wines. To be enjoyed in stylish and contemporary  surrounds complete with charming dining nooks and Italian-inspired good looks. Emphasising seasonal ingredients and fresh flavours, the menu features a selection of appetisers, pasta, main meals and rotisserie with a range of unique desserts, all made in-house by Pastry Chef Angelique Iuliano, with a focus on quality and consistency.

San Lorenzo cafe is a casual and inviting space that specialises in fresh, healthy and popular breakfast and lunch options catering for either take away, a quick bite or a lingering meal enjoyed with colleagues or friends. The coffee San Lorenzo serves has also been carefully selected; a specialty, unique blend of sustainably farmed Brazilian beans, roasted here in Melbourne.

It is said that San Lorenzo is the patron saint of cooks. He is also the patron saint of the cooking school located at the Mercato San Lorenzo in Florence, located on the backside of the San Lorenzo Church. Tradition tells us that when Lorenzo was sentenced to death after humiliating the pagan prefect of Rome at the time, he was roasted to death on a gridiron, and to him are attributed the famous dying words, “Turn me over, I’m done on this side.”

The Italians, with their characteristically ironic humour, celebrate the Feast of San Lorenzo with barbecues. The feast day for San Lorenzo is the 10th August.

For a special birthday celebration, an intimate private function or a corporate event, San Lorenzo offers a separate space ‘The Private Dining Room.’ For all enquiries and availability please contact San Lorenzo.

Caribbean Park COVID-19 Update

Caribbean Park is following the advice from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and taking precaution to ensure the Caribbean Park continues to provide a safe and welcoming environment.

Caribbean Park Property Managers would like to advise that most if not all companies within our park have set up their own strategies in dealing with the Coronavirus.

Some have also informed us that protective masks form part of their strategy, which is their choice to take precautions as they see fit.

No one within the park to date has been diagnosed with coronavirus, so please don’t be alarmed if you see someone with a mask on, it is policy for a couple of companies.

Also, with many companies sending staff home, we would like to ask those still within Caribbean Park to consider our local businesses.  Pinnacle Health, Middleman Cafe and Calibar Cafés thrive off the local trade; we hope that we can all continue to support these businesses through this time.

For more information on the Coronavirus please check https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/

If you have further concerns there is a Coronavirus Hotline: 1800 657 398 (24 hours)

Caribbean Beach Bar

You may have see from the office precinct windows or driving around Caribbean Park the beach that has been created over the last week or so? We are pleased to now share this project with you!

Australia’s first ever suburban beach-bar right here at Caribbean Park!

Nestled by the beautiful lakes of the Caribbean Gardens and conjunctively overlooking the Dandenongs, the picturesque setting offers locals the chance to enjoy a slice of paradise while being in their own backyard.

Spanning for a period of one month the ‘Caribbean Beach Bar’ will offer a range of live entertainment and a variety of food options, with food trucks, cocktails, live musicians and DJs being centrepieces of the event.

Creator and event promoter Danny Grant had the idea while holidaying in europe July last year.

“Whilst  in the Netherlands, I came across a man made beach-bar right on the canal in the middle of the suburbs, it blew my mind”, Grant said.

“The locals laughed at me when I said I’d replicate it back home in Aus, but why let the Europeans have all the fun?”, Grant continued.

Grant, who is no stranger to the Carribean Gardens said it was the best possible venue for the event.

“The space is nostalgic and special to me. My nan used to take me to the market every Wednesday and I’ve been wanting to work with the space ever since”, Grant said.

In addition to all of this, Grant wants to use this opportunity to advertise local DJs and musicians.

“Showcasing local talent is something I’ve been passionate about for a long time. We’ve got so much talent here in the South-East and it’s a great feeling to give them this opportunity to share their gifts with the community”, Grant said.

Congratulations Matthews Australasia

Matthews Australasia has been inducted into Family Business Australia’s Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made during the Awards Dinner at The Family Business Conference in Melbourne on September 3rd 2019..

Lester Nichol, chairman of Matthews Australasia, said staff throughout the company were delighted.

“As founder of this business, I feel immense pride in Matthews Australasia being recognised in this way. Every single employee plays an important role. A good analogy is an engine: every part needs to work properly, and together, for success. That’s what we have at Matthews. The fact it’s a family business just makes that all the more special.”

Matt Nichol is Matthews Australasia’s regional sales manager and part of the second generation in the business along with his brother Ben, who is the company’s supply chain and procurement manager.

Matt said, “The Hall of Fame citation recognises the achievements of families who are managing businesses that are both respected and successful. Family businesses account for nearly 70% of all businesses in Australia; those of us who are involved in these businesses know the significant role they play in our community, society and indeed the economy, and this induction certainly recognises all that.”

The FBA said that key to Matthews’ induction this year was their highly regarded brand and product offering that reflects quality, value and integrity, along with professional governance, all of which reflects the standards that FBA upholds in a family business. Another aspect was their best-practice transition plan, which they began planning out several years ago. Mark Dingley, who joined the company in 1994 in customer service, worked alongside the family to take over as CEO, which he did in June 2017. Supported by a talented and diverse Board, the plan meant Matthews was always stably managed, and the transition was smooth. The plan also ensures they have the optimal mix of experience, knowledge and fresh ideas. FBA said this approach also set the business apart.

Matt continued, “I am part of the FBA’s Victoria-Tasmania Committee, so I know just how important all these points are. As a company, we are truly honoured to be inducted into the FBA Hall of Fame and recognised for our achievements.”

Lester Nichol said, “The Hall of Fame is a highly esteemed peer commendation, with previous inductees all being outstanding family businesses of various sizes from across Australia. Matthews is very proud to now be part of this.”

Raising funds for Heart Disease

Did you know that HEART DISEASE is the single leading cause of death for Australians and that it kills 3 times more women than breast cancer?!

Parmalat Staff at Caribbean Park got together to participate in Wear Red Day on 14 February 2019 to raise vital funds for the Heart Research Institute.

Activities of the day included a guest speaker from the Heart Foundation of Victoria – Lisa Speirs, a staff member’s personal story, free Blood Pressure and Body Mass Index checks for staff, and a raffle prize of red love heart chocolates.

Overall $214 dollars was raised through gold coin donations.

Local brokerage one of Australia’s best

Buyers Choice located at Caribbean Park has been named as one of the top brokerages in Australia after securing a place in The Adviser’s Top 25 Brokerages ranking 2019.

The Top 25 Brokerages ranking was revealed in the February 2019 edition of The Adviser, Australia’s top publication for Australian mortgage and finance brokers.

We are thrilled to announce that Buyers Choice has been recognised as one of the country’s top mortgage brokerages for 2019.

The final ranking is determined by scores in six key areas: total book size, total loans settled in 2018, total volume of loans settled in 2018, book size versus years in business, total broker numbers and average broker volumes for 2018.

These six scores were then combined to give a final overall score. The lower the score, the better the ranking.

Annie Kane, editor of The Adviser, said, “Each year, The Adviser’s Top 25 Brokerages ranking celebrates the success of Australia’s top brokerages.

“While the major brokerage brands have topped the list once again, we are increasingly seeing non-franchise brokerages compete with the major powerhouses. Brokerages from across the country made the ranking but there was a particular concentration of brokerages from Victoria this year.

“We know that brokers are working hard to deliver competition and choice, and on behalf of The Adviser, I’d like to congratulate Buyers Choice Mortgage & Finance on their achievement, and all of the brokerages who made it into the ranking this year.”

The full ranking and further information about The Adviser’s Top 25 Brokerages 2019 can be found in the February 2019 edition of The Adviser magazine, out now.
